the eternal struggle

As I am sure every working mother does, I am going through if it is worth working...I know that right now we need me to work, but I hate that I feel like I never see Logan. I like my job most of the time and I know that it was the right thing for our family to do. I find myself a little envious of those mothers that get to stay home with their babies everyday!

Either way Logan is growing and learning so much everyday. We can see more and more changes in him in the past few days. He is so much fun to watch. We love him.

So I got this mirror before he was born and thought well we might not ever use it, and now we use it alot!!! HE LOVES TO LOOK AT HIMSELF! It is awesome. He is totally enamored with himself.

He has been half rolling over and turning his head really far up to look at everything he possiibly can! He also loved laying on Mimi's bed watching the fan, and showing off for everyone! Like mother like son :) (that for you mom)

and totally on accident of course he was holding his own bottle...yes we are bad parents and in the middle of the night we turned on the light so that we could get this picture!! Everything we do is all in the name of a picture to put on the blog (thats for you Bob)

Logan's Blessing

We blessed Logan on Sunday, September 21st in Utah. My dad and my grandfather live here and were able to be in the circle with Bob. We also had my dad's brother Gail and my friend's husband Steve along with the Bishop and the Stake President. We were so blessed to have them all with us on Logan's special day. My mom put together a beautiful luncheon afterwards. It was so great to have everyone at her house just visiting. Bob's mom and her husband drove from Mississippi to be with it as well. It was so wonderful! I have some pictures from that day!
Mommy and Logan in the church parking lot waiting on Daddy and Popi...

Sister Heaton (Tanya)and Logan. She is the sister missionary that taught Bob.

Fun Aunt Carlee feeding Logan.

Our little family, we have so many of each picture that it is hard to choose which ones to post...

Steve, Bethanie, Tanya, Me, Mr. Heaton and Heather..We are just so blessed to have wonderful people in our life!

One Year

I am just not sure even how to start this blog. On Monday Bob and I celebrated our first anniversary. So much has happened in just one year. I could not ask for a better partner in life. I am so grateful for the support that he is to me. I have had so much fun going through the adventures of our first year together. Here are a few of the things we have weathered and celebrated together.
  • Moved into our home
  • Survived a honeymoon pregnancy (all those who have gone through this understand)
  • Welcomed Logan into our family
  • 2 ten-hour car trips to Mississippi - one of them with Logan
  • 2 five-hour plane rides to Utah - one of them with Logan (to be blogged later)
  • The loss of a job

and

  • Preparing to enter the Temple

The best part of all of it was that we got to do it together!! I love you baby!!

Please enjoy our cake eating - well it's just the cake. Thanks to my mother it was not bad at all, for being in the freezer for a year! The key was freezing it before we vacuum sealed it, covered it in foil and then vacuum sealed it again!!

TOO DARN CUTE!

As you all may remember, if you read my blog very often, I wrote a while back about taking too many pictures!!!! Well I am guilty again of not being able to stop taking pictures of my little man.

There is a story to all of this; as always, right?! Bob wanted to take a jump drive with some pictures on it to work to put on his new computer, so he could show everyone how big Logan is. I could not let him go with week old pictures. I grabbed the camera, thank you Aunt Caroline :o)
I think I took pictures for 20 min, and by the end I was laughing so hard I was affraid I was going to wet my pants (which has not happened since I was pregnant!)

Here are a few of our accomplishements over the past few days (I think that he is warming up to show off for everyone in Utah)

  • We talk ALOT...he is so funny when he does it too, it takes a lot of energy so he has to work up to it and that is fun to watch
  • We have found our tongue...and love it!
  • We have found our hand and love that

and tonight

  • We found our lip...that is easier then getting his hand to his mouth

As I was putting him to bed he was fussing, which has happened now both Monday and Tuesday I think it is him adjusting to the Carey's watching him in the day time now and not being home with mom or dad all day, but we are working through it. Either way, he was crying and sucking on his lip at the same time, it was so cute!

With that said, here are the pictures I captured

Logan was more interested in the logo on Daddy's shirt then looking at mommy!

Big Boy Smiles...

Then we got this funny face right before he told us a long story about his day. It was very energetic!

And then the following faces - I was truly dying!!!!!!!!!!

Talking and sucking...my baby is so talented :0)

This is my personal favorite...

And last but not least!!! I love this little boy!

UTAH COUNTDOWN...2 sleeps

We were so productive today...well for the morning. Logan and I got up and went grocery shopping. We came home and Bob decided to wash the car. I put Logan down for a nap and helped him wash the car. Then, while we were at it we cleaned out the garage....HURRAY!! I have been wanting to do that since before Logan was born; SO I was super happy. Bob did a great, great job organizing the garage. While he was doing it Logan woke up so I brought the swing out (our favorite thing in the world right now) into the garage and he just hung out with us while we finished up...
Just hanging on in the garage with us!

He looked so serious, he was kind of zoning in and out. We also found some little rings and he loves hanging onto them as tight as could be!

This is kind of a long story...our friend Alan is competing this weekend in Utah in the Strong Man World Championship. My wonderful parents went to support him for us! I was so glad that they went. We had wished that he was going to be out there while we were out there but we were off by just a week. So my mom took some pictures for us to post...thanks Mimi :0)

Mimi and Alan with our picture of Logan!!

Utah countdown...5 days!!

The other day, Logan laughed for the first time. He has always been a very smiley baby and would look like he was laughing but there was no noise. Well finally,he audibly laughed. By the time I got the camera going, he was done and we couldn't get him to do it again. So we have been trying for the past couple of days to get him to do it again. Finally, last night, Emily was playing with him in the recliner and he gave a small laugh. It is one of the most awesome things to hear.

Giggles and piggies....

We had some tummy time today! Caroline said that she could see me in him today!! Hurray, finally someone thinks my son looks a little like me! :0)

For the first time in his little 3 months and 4 days he laughed/giggled tonight. For real, like baby laughing not just smiling. It was amazing!!! We were not fast enough to get the video camera, but I have decided that we just need to have the video camera running all day everyday so that we can catch everything.
As for the piggie part of my title, I was putting Logan to bed tonight and he was taking a 6 oz bottle. Given that he had 4 oz at 6 ish I thought 6 more would be plenty. Just so you know, it was 8:30 when this was all happening. So I am singing along until I realize that we are coming up on the end of the bottle and he still looks like he is going to want to keep eating. We do this new thing when we are not done, it is a shreek/cry, and for the record I do anything in my power not to hear this noise. Logan is a little dramatic, to say the least. Bob made another 4 oz bottle and he ate most of that. So we had a little piggie on our hands tonight.

Our friend Alan is going to be in a stong man compention in Utah the week before we are coming out to Utah so my mom is going to go to support him...mom met him when she was out here when Logan was born. We wanted Alan to know that we were thinking of him so we took these pictures for my mom to print out and take with her to the competition on Saturday...enjoy. I added several, because I just think he is so cute!!
On a side note, I have found my calling! I am going to be a professional blogger. I think it is so fun. I find great joy in adding things to my blog and learning new things about the "behind the scenes" of the blog. I know I am a dork...who would have thought when I was graduating from High School that I would be an IT geek. Ummm, not me for sure! Ok, so enjoy my new addition of music!

The countdown to Utah...9 days :)

Thanks Aunt Caroline for letting us use your camera!!

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?????

Things both my boys love...
  • Grilling outside (Logan just likes being outside in general)
  • Mommy :)
  • Morning snuggles

AND

  • FOOTBALL!!

Here are some picture from today. I was dying, he would not stop looking at the TV. Bob was a proud daddy today!!

Shot one...watching the Buc's play the Saints

Trying to get his attention, I just wanted him to look at me for 1 picture, he looked so cute in his little football outfit.

Mommy tries again...I am not kidding he would not look away from the game.

We went to lunch with the Mangum's on Saturday. The kids are getting so big and the dads got to spend a good bit of time stopping the drool...of which there is plenty! Thanks to Miss Beth for the pictures.

Everytime we would put them together Maggie would open her mouth for kisses and Logan would close his eyes and turn away. Bob told him someday he would want the girls to kiss him!!! The kids are so fun to watch together they are getting to the place that they like to just watch eachother. They are exploring there little world that is for sure!!!

Hate...a word we don't use in our house!

So just for the record we dislike the word hate in our house. There are many words that we dislike in our house but I think I could say that hate is at the top of our list. We are not the kind of people who don't drink coke or never have a dirty house or even say "grown up" words, but we do think that how you talk about yourself and your family are some of the most important words you can use. SO with that said for just one moment I am going to violate our rule. I HATE HATE HATE my camera. I have been trying to get it to work for several days now. It will work for one picture and then as Logan smiles the button gets stuck or it starts to beep and gives me an error. So we have been using our phones for pictures which is wonderful, except for the fact that if there is any movement at all it is fuzzy. Tonight I am sitting on the couch and Logan and Bob are playing. It was so so cute. Bob was having Logan do like a Monkey, "OOOOO" and like and pig "oink oink". Logan was almost laughing, it was so fun. So I went to get the camera so I could get a good picture even if they moved a little. It would not even turn on. I HATE HATE HATE this camera. So if all was right in the world I would be uploading pictures of my son and my husband playing together but instead I am being forced to use the word that I dislike using. Moral of the story - always have a good camera.

On a positive note

  • the camera did wonderful things for 7 years...but I think it has seen its last day!
  • Tomorrow is FRIDAY!
  • 2 weeks from tomorrow we will be in Utah
  • 3 weeks from today, our little family will be sealed
  • Logan is asleep
  • We are mostly prepared if Ike desides to pay us a visit

AND

  • We have wonderful family and friends that are so supportive

We are just so blessed!

Tummy time

My name is Emily and I have a problem - I am addicted to taking pictures of my baby! So seriously when I take a picture I don't take just 1 I take 17...so today we got some good ones!!
I just love his little face:)

He has been doing better on his little mat, he can hang out for about 5 min with out needing mom or dad coming over to talk to him...he loves talkng with us.

He is also enjoying tummy time a little more these days, what a happy little face.

Just more tummy time, he was just talking away this afternoon...

First Attempt at Adding Movies

Emily went in to check on Logan before going to bed and this is what she found. He is a traveler in his sleep. We will put him on one end of the crib to find him on the other end when he wakes up.
